Getting started
What happens on the first call?
We spend about fifteen minutes on your business, the software you use and what is overdue. We send a written scope afterwards, so you can see what is included before anything starts.
How long until the books are up to date?
It depends on how far behind they are. The written scope sets out the blocks of catch-up work and a sensible order. We don’t promise a date before we have seen the records.
Do I need to change my software?
Not usually. We work in your own cloud accounting and payroll software. If you are still on spreadsheets, a software setup can be part of the scope.

Most cloud accounting and payroll software. We work in your file, not ours.
Packages and scope
What does a package cost?
Packages are quoted after a short call, because no two sets of books are the same. This is a studio concept, so no prices are listed.
Can I change package later?
Yes. The scope is agreed in writing, and moving from Catch-up to Steady or Rhythm is the usual path.
What is left out of every package?
Lodging BAS or tax returns, and tax or financial advice. Each package card lists what is not included.
BAS and your agent
Do you lodge my BAS?
No. We prepare a BAS-ready summary and records for your registered BAS or tax agent, who reviews and lodges.
What if I don’t have an agent yet?
Choose one before the period ends so there is someone to hand the report to. The ATO website explains how to find a registered agent.
Can you tell me what I can claim?
No. That’s tax advice; ask your registered tax agent.
Payroll
Do you pay my staff?
No. We prepare pay runs in your payroll software and you approve each one. We don’t hold or move your money.
Can you tell me which award applies?
No. Award interpretation and employment advice sit with Fair Work or your adviser. The Fair Work website is the place to start.
Access and security
How do you get into my accounting file?
You add us as a user in your software, with the access level you choose. You can remove us at any time.
Should I email my passwords or tax file numbers?
No. Never email passwords or tax file numbers. In a real practice, you would use the secure method your bookkeeper gives you.
Who owns the file?
You do. We work in your file, not ours.
